2022–2032
Medical billing and coding professionals work behind the scenes in every healthcare setting — translating clinical documentation into standardized codes used for insurance claims, reimbursements, and health information management. The role is primarily administrative, making it well-suited to remote and work-from-home arrangements.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of medical records and health information specialists is projected to grow 8% from 2022 to 2032 — faster than the national average — driven by an aging population, expanded use of electronic health records, and growing complexity in healthcare billing systems.
