The Practical Nursing Program at Broward-Miami Health Institute is a 12-month, 1,350-hour program in Miramar, FL that prepares students for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Florida. The program combines classroom instruction, laboratory skills practice, and supervised clinical rotations across multiple healthcare settings.
Students gain hands-on experience in medical-surgical nursing, obstetric nursing, pediatric nursing, geriatric nursing, and mental health — across acute care, long-term care, and community settings. The curriculum covers anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and IV therapy, nutrition, human development, legal and ethical aspects of nursing practice, and interpersonal communication skills.
Throughout the program, students demonstrate competency through quizzes, exams, lab skills return demonstrations, clinical evaluations, research papers, and written assignments. Upon graduation, students are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN licensure examination.

Licensed Practical Nurses are employed across a wide range of healthcare settings in Florida and nationwide. With a median annual wage of approximately $59,730 (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2023), LPNs earn significantly more than entry-level healthcare roles — reflecting the clinical depth and responsibility of the position.
Florida consistently ranks among the top states for LPN employment, driven by a large and growing senior population, an expanding network of outpatient facilities, and strong demand for skilled nursing staff across hospital systems and long-term care settings.
