Patient Care Technician

A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct patient care including vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG monitoring, and nursing assistant duties across hospital and clinical settings. This 600-hour program at our Miramar, FL campus prepares graduates for three career tracks — and makes you eligible for both the Florida CNA state exam and the CPCT/A certification with the National Healthcareer Association.

Program Overview

The Patient Care Technician Program at Broward-Miami Health Institute is a 600-hour certification program in Miramar, FL. It trains students to perform direct patient care across nursing assistant, phlebotomy, and EKG technician functions — making it one of the broadest clinical skills programs available at the entry level.

The curriculum covers anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, nursing assistant skills, phlebotomy theory and lab, electrocardiography, CPR and First Aid, OSHA and infection control, HIV/AIDS and blood-borne pathogens, and clinical practicum rotations.
