Broward-Miami Health Institute is dedicated to helping you achieve your goals of becoming a Home Health Aide care provider.  Our Home Health Aide program includes, upon successful completion, the 75-Hour Diploma required for employment of Medicare and/or Medicaid Agencies or for Private Home Care.

Books & Uniforms

Week 1: Foundational Skills: Communication and Problem-Solving and Core Skills - Personal Care Aide

  1. Orientation to training, role of HHA, respecting differences & culture.
  2. Communication skills & problem solving techniques, orientation to home care, infection control.
  3. Body mechanics & working with elders, assisting with self-administered medications.
  4. Safety and emergency, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  5. Work with clients with physical disabilities and assisting with instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).

Week 2: Core Skills - Personal Care Aide and Expanded Skills of the Home Health Aide

  1. Knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to carry out the responsibilities of a HHA to assist clients with health-related tasks.

  2. Complex modified diets, vital signs, prescribed exercises & prescribed medical equipment.

  3. Skin and wound care, dressing changes, and ostomy care.

  4. Limitations of a home health aide.

  5. Hospice, death and dying

     

Great Foundation

I really wanted to join the healthcare field  but I wanted to get my hands wet in the field first. I feel extremely prepared to work in the home care field after taking this HHA program.
